Job Description

Lead Clinical Applications Specialist is responsible for all activities related to the support of Solis Clinical Application applications with specialization in RIS, PACS or MRS. He/She manages and assigns work to the application support team in coordination with the overall application support team. This team will consist of business and technical analysts and may be one of several teams supporting a large application product. The Lead is responsible for all management aspects of his/her team, i.e. annual evaluations, hiring, counseling, mentoring and other management activities. Confers with and advises staff on standards, policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods. Manages priorities set by the Senior Manager. Understands and supports the strategic direction of Solis and manages his/her support area in accordance with that strategy. Works closely with other Leads and/or Manager of the application area to make sure priorities and work assignments are managed consistently.


  • Ownership and support of RIS, PACS, MRS applications to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Ownership is defined as taking full responsibility for the quality of outcomes from these systems and the day-to-day support of activities in this area
  • Ownership for creation and documentation of processes within assigned area.
  • Perform quality assurance as well as coordinates testing environments required to minimize risk of negative impact into the production environment
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats, this includes end to end workflow from scheduling to billing
  • Liaison between Clinical Operation, Billing and Compliance – Having a detailed understanding of these functions to support these departments efficiently
  • Preparation of RFP (Request for Proposal) for RIS and workflow related applications and RFP analysis
  • Interface with application vendors,
  • Work with vendors to resolve issues, deliver upgrades and develop solutions
  • Mentor and train IS staff in system usage and troubleshooting
  • Provide standardized training modules for RIS and related applications
  • Support data migrations and validations

Job Requirements

  • At least five years’ career-track delivering high quality support services in a healthcare-oriented IS support environment, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and understanding of clinical applications, related applications to current workflow, and Billing – able to implement and configure systems for high efficiency
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and understanding of the roles and workflows within a Solis Mammography Imaging organization
  • Able to demonstrate the following

  • Any of the following qualifications are considered highly desirable in a candidate for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Systems or imaging-related discipline
  • Able to write scripts in various scripting languages to control system behavior
