Job Description

The Financial Clearance Specialist will be responsible for performing all functions necessary to accomplish financial clearance for our patients. Including but not limited to insurance verification, patient estimation, payment collection, financial counseling, and authorizations of service.

• Outreaches to patients/responsible party to obtain any and all required information in order to verify identity and insurance coverage/benefits
• Checks eligibility of patient’s insurance coverage and log response into clinical system in a timely and efficient manner.
• Uses automated insurance verification system and/or telephone to obtain In-Network (INN) and Out of Network (OON) benefits from Insurance Company and ensures insurance verification information is accurate
• Calculates estimated allowed amount, projected insurance payment and patient responsibility based on current insurance benefits and up-to-date fee schedule, and enters information in the clinical system for payment collection at the center level
• Discusses financial obligations with patients and/or guarantors and secure payment (in full or through payment arrangements) in keeping with Solis/Washington Radiology policy
• Works with the pre-authorization department to determine and obtain authorizations/pre-certifications on pre-scheduled procedures to secure reimbursement of the exam
• Communicates with physician practices in a respectful and timely manner to ensure timely response of all inquiries and questions related to both billing and pre-certification
• Handles incoming phone calls across all functions of financial clearance, including calls from patients, referring physicians, company centers
• Prepares reports as needed by leadership
• Follows all company policies and guidelines and maintains HIPAA compliance at all times
• Participates in Departmental, Clinical and Company meetings are required
• Performs other duties as requested.


Job Requirements


  • High School diploma;
  • One or more years of customer service experience; health care registration preferred;
  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills;
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions;
  • Ability to enter data quickly and accurately;
  • Excellent oral communication skills;
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite: knowledge of RIS software preferred;
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
