Job Description

Self-directed and experienced Controller to oversee the accounting, financial consolidation, corporate costs, financial reporting, audit and outsourced tax services.  This position will have responsibility for accounts payable and payroll.  The candidate must have strong technical accounting experience but also the process and analytical foresight to build an organization and processes to scale up to the growth and requirements of the business.  The candidate must have had bigger company experience and revenue recognition complexity, ideally in a healthcare or healthcare services company.  Joint venture model is the growth plan going forward so JV and business combination experience required.  Private equity experience or proven success in a high growth business is required. 

RESULTS MEASURED BY THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for GAAP accounting, reporting, and consolidation of the financial results. Also responsible for the private equity management accounting on a proforma, EBITDA basis.
  • Ability to build scalable accounting and control processes and lead a team at the pace of business growth.  
  • Ability to manage the details and accuracy of a controllership function but also set a vision and stay ahead of the growth and changing needs of the company
  • Support the financial reporting requirements of the business and key stakeholders including business management, the joint ventures, operational leaders and the lenders.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company to plan, assess controls and stay on top of the requirements of the business as they change.
  • Accurate and timely financial statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow.
  • Ensures accurate revenue recognition and accounts receivable and reserving. Works with the Revenue Cycle director and outsourced revenue cycle (hospital systems and McKesson) to ensure the accuracy of revenue. 
  • Manage and report the company’s compliance with debt covenants.
  • Oversee the cash management and cash distribution to our JV partners.
  • Manage the audits and implement required process changes in line with accounting standards.
  • Build scalable processes and define clearly the roles and responsibilities of each member. Develop a positive and efficient culture that is results driven.   
  • Lead the acquisition integration and accounting for development. Technical experience in acquisition, business combination and equity method of accounting. 
  • Ensure the business processes and the team are supported by effective technology.
  • Ensures proper controls are in place and policies and procedures are communicated and followed in the organization.
  • Monitors financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements and filings.

 

Job Requirements

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA is required. 
  • Minimum 18 years accounting experience.  Experience in a Controllership position with several companies. 
  • Technical accounting skills combined with process aptitude and demonstrated “scale up” in a growth or high change business environment.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to “see” the future requirements and put in place the processes and organization ahead of that change. 
  • Demonstrated skills in leading and developing teams.  Strong communication skills and a team player.  See their role beyond “closing the books” but as a support to the business needs. 
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Strong presence and the ability to work closely and communicate with the senior leadership team.
